Higher Diploma in Business Management (Mandarin)

The Higher Diploma in Business Management (Mandarin) programme equips students with key business skills in strategy, financial management, human resources, marketing, and entrepreneurship.

Programme Structure

1. Principles and Concepts of Strategy: This module explores the fundamental elements that guide strategic decision-making in organisations. It covers the analysis of internal and external environments, competitive positioning, and strategic resources and capabilities. It delves into the development and implementation of business strategies, emphasising the importance of alignment with organisational goals and the dynamic nature of the business landscape.

2. Financial Management: This module enables students to gain an understanding of main sources of finance, to understand the relationships between cost volume and profit, to carry out specific costing practices and make recommendations on prices and interpret business performance using recognised tools. It is not an in-depth accounting unit, and this should be borne in mind when planning and executing the delivery.

3. The Management of Human Resources: This module covers the ability to attract, develop and retain talented employees is a key factor in a business’s success. Drive leadership development framework has its focus on supporting and enhancing business success and performance through its strategic vision and operational functions. It aims to introduce the key human resource management principles and concepts.

4. Marketing: This module covers the understanding of the marketing planning process and to apply these principles to a variety of business contexts. The unit also provides a comprehensive understanding of environmental analysis and how this can lead to the development of appropriate objectives and strategies to enhance operational marketing performance.

5. Entrepreneurship – Business Start-up: This module covers to consolidate previous learning where learners employ the knowledge and skills of disciplines such as marketing and management to produce a viable business plan and accessing the feasibility of the business plan.

Admission Criteria

6 months (full-time)

 

12 months (part-time)

 

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age

For Local Students

  •  ‘A’ Level; OR

at least two subjects at A/H2 Level

  • Diploma; OR
  • Mature candidates (≥ 30 years old with 8 years work experience); OR
  • Candidates with other qualifications will be assessed on case-by-case basis

For International Students

  • Diploma; OR
  • Completion of Year 10 will be considered if it is an official completion of High School in the country of origin; OR
  • Other private or foreign qualifications will be assessed on case-by-case basis

English language requirement:

  • Grade C6 in any GCE O-level subjects conducted in English, OR
  • Successfully pass Golden Compass School English Placement Test; OR
  • IELTS 5.5 or equivalent (applicable for International students)
