Learners who achieve Pre-Intermediate level can:

  • Understand sentences and common expressions about familiar topics, including very basic personal and family information, shopping, places of interest and work
  • Communicate in simple, everyday tasks that require only simple and direct exchanges of information on familiar topics
  • Describe aspects of their past, environment and matters related to their immediate needs, using simple language.

Course Introduction

Please provide the information on module and its learning objective in the following format:

1 Listening Video or audio clips might be a dialogue or a speech that will last approximately three minutes and only be played once. To be able to apprehend the content of the clips.

 

2 Reading To examine in short answer question fact identification, sentence or summary completion, identifying writer’s attitudes/views, and matching list or phrases.

 

3 Writing A diagram, data, or a table will be provided and be able to represent the information in Candidates’ own words. This question has a word limit of 150 words.

To be able to write essay on a given point of view problem or an argument.

The goal is to evaluate based on Candidates’ response’s opinion, justifications, ideas, and evidences.

4 Speaking Part 1 (Introduction followed by an Interview) – In this activity, candidates must

introduce themselves in around 4-5 minutes by discussing their family, hobbies, interests, educational history, and so on.

Part 2 (Long Turn) – Candidates will be given a flashcard with a topic

. They can think for a few minutes, acquaint themselves with the issue, and speak for 2-3 minutes. Following that, the interviewer may ask some follow-up questions to assess the candidate’s subject knowledge.

Part 3 (Discussion) – A thorough examination of the topic presented in Part 2 and the candidate’s speech and comprehension will be thoroughly examined. Candidates will have the opportunity to go deeper into the subject and cover it in greater detail. This task usually takes about 5-6 minutes to complete.

 

Age: 11 years old

Academic Level: Completed Primary 5 or equivalent

English Language requirement: Basic English determined by successfully passing Golden Compass School Placement Test
